Gluten-Free Sour Cream Coffee CakeApologies for not being a more diligent blogger. For some reason, in my mind posting on this blog seems to be more of a production than the quick little updates I often post on Tumblr. I’m not sure why that is, except maybe since I pay for the hosting on this blog (whereas Tumblr is free) I feel obligated to make things at least appear more professional, like having better photos and stuff, but I’m going to try and let that go since a long lapse in between posts isn’t good.

It’s not that I haven’t done anything cake-related for the past few months, it’s just that I’ve also been doing other stuff. And I will freely admit that I have a bad habit of procrastinating. I need to work on that. Continue reading »

Rolled Fondant Snowflakes Cake

Well, I guess it IS January. Happy New Year everybody!

The weather where I live is bitterly cold at the moment, with record-low temperatures and crazy wind chills. This means I’ve been staying indoors as much as possible because I hate the cold, which gives me an opportunity to update my blog, and since the last post was about my new iPad, I thought I’d share some of the cake decorating videos I’ve made with it–if only to prove that I’m now using it for more than playing games. I have not done a good job maintaining my blog. That’s stating the obvious, I know, but I feel like I need to explain why. It’s not that I haven’t been doing anything. Quite the contrary, in fact, because I’ve been rather busy. Maybe not so much with cake decorating classes and birthday parties, although there have been a few here and there, and while it’s been ages since I shared a recipe, I have been making stuff. If you follow me on Tumblr or Instagram you’ve seen what I get up to when I don’t have time to do a full blog post about it, like the new gluten-free pancake and waffle mix I tried and pictures of some new cake decorating tools Wilton sent me. Samsung ChromebookI’m anxiously waiting for my new Chromebook to make its way home to me. It’s supposed to arrive some time today, and I seriously hope it does. I made the decision to buy one this past Tuesday, and silly, naive me thought it would be as simple as walking into Best Buy and picking one up. Ha! I posted the whole story on Tumblr, but basically I ended up having to order my Chromebook online. Which, of course, means waiting for delivery. Continue reading »

I finally bit the bullet and moved my cake blog over to self-hosted WordPress. I’m not one to willingly work outside my comfort zone, and I dreaded having to learn a new platform, but after many months of thinking about making the switch, I realized a couple of weeks ago that I was ready. Plus, I finally had enough money in Paypal to fund the hosting and all that. Continue reading »

Oh, dear. I haven’t been very at all diligent about posting regularly. October was a busy month, and I didn’t always have time or–even remember–to take pictures of the recipes made and treats decorated. But it’s been exciting, and I have a lot of fun stuff going on! Continue reading »

I honestly meant to post a “Should’ve Done Sunday” yesterday, but I found myself vacuuming the house instead. There was also a bit of laundry that needed doing, and some other random chores that I couldn’t put off any longer. But at least the weather was gorgeous, and it was slightly cooler less sweltering yesterday with a nice breeze, so I even managed to open a window or two and let the house air out a bit. I’m ready for autumn. Continue reading »
